Curling your index finger towards you with all remaining fingers clenched into a fist (when your palm is facing up), means, in many Western cultures, "come here" and is very popular. The same gesture often appears in American movies and usually means that one person (the one using the gesture) tries to seduce the other person.

But when you travel in the Phillipines - never use this gesture on people! Unless you want your finger broken. The beckoning sign is called there "the Dog Call" and can be used only on dogs!
