Question about writing scientific papers in English

As far as I know scientific English is slightly different from common English. I have heard somewhere that, when writing scientific papers, it is better to use BrE, elsewhere I have heard that it is better to use AmE. Could you recommend any educational materials (books, websites, etc.) about scientific English?
