The Tufted Tit-Spinetail (Leptasthenura platensis) is a species of bird in the Furnariidae family.

A number of species such as the Royal Cinclodes and White-browed Tit-spinetail are associated with Polylepis, and consequently also threatened.

The Plain-mantled Tit-Spinetail (Leptasthenura aegithaloides) is a small passerine bird of South America belonging to the ovenbird family, Furnariidae.

A number of endangered birds restricted to relict Polylepis forests call the park home, such as the White-cheeked Cotinga, Plain-tailed Warbling-finch, Giant Conebill, and Tawny Tit-Spinetail.

Molecular phylogenetics places it within the Synallaxinae and indicates that the genus diverged from the Leptasthenura about 14-15 million years ago.
