Syriac Catholic Church

Saint Behnam and his sister Sara are honoured on 10 December by both the Syriac Orthodox and Syriac Catholic churches.

Simon Zora converted to the Syriac Catholic Church in 1804 from Syrian Orthodox Church and in 1812 was appointed archbishop of Damas.

The Syro-Chaldean seminary, which trained priests for both the Chaldean and Syriac Catholic churches, was under the direction of the Dominicans, while the patriarchal seminary was directed entirely by Chaldean clergy.

He was Professor of Old Testament and Semitics at the Catholic University of Nijmegen (1951-1979) after which time he spent most of his time in Kerala, and was raised to the dignity of chorbishop (or chorepiscopus) in the Syriac Catholic Church in 1963.

The Patriarchate of Antioch (Greek Orthodox Church of Antioch, Syriac Orthodox Church, Syriac Catholic Church, Maronite Patriarch of Antioch and the Whole Levant) claims unbroken succession to the Throne of Saint Peter.
