The school was elevated to university status on December 26, 1991, under Republic Act 7168.

Republic Act 8528 repealed this statute transforming it back to a component city.

I t became a university in 2010 by virtue of Republic Act 9852.

According to Republic Act 8491 itself, it shall be prohibited:

The town gained city status on July 1, 1960, per Republic Act 2643.

By virtue of the said Republic Act, decentralization had taken off.

Following its recent declaration as a city, it is also the officially designated capital of the province per Republic Act 8811.

It was established on June 22, 1963 by Republic Act 3591.

It did not push through as a Republic Act and no plebiscite happened.

It was created and founded in 1989 through Republic Act 9963.
